Weekend weather outlook for Carson City area; East Fifth Street closure

A wind advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to midnight.

Today's weather will have mostly cloudy skies with isolated showers. Highs 52-62 with southwest winds 10-15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph " increasing to 20-30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight, windy and mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Snow level 5000 feet. Lows 24-34 with southwest winds 20-35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

Saturday will be mostly cloudy with a slight chance of showers. Highs 46-56 with north west winds around 10 mph.

East Fifth Street will be closed to through traffic from Butti to Saliman Road today through Monday. Alternate routes of travel are Highway 50 and Fairview Drive.

Road work continues in Carson City with areas of delays, mainly Fairview Drive between Roop Street and South Edmonds, and Highway 50 East between Airport Road and Saliman Road.

The Department of Transportation reports at 6:10 a.m. all roads in Northern Nevada open with no controls except on Highway 395 through Washoe Valley: Campers and trailers are not advised from East Lake Boulevard to Winters Ranch.
