Police have released a photograph of a man wanted for questioning in a slashing last week at a Carson City park.

Sheriff's Detective Bob Motamenpour said witnesses have identified John Emmanuel Lara, as the man who attacked another man with a knife at the John B. Mankins Park in the Silver Oak subdivision on Friday.

The 30-year-old Carson City man was driving past the park about 5:45 p.m. when he saw three teenagers running from three men in the park, said Motamenpour.

"So he stopped and confronted them, and then there was a physical fight with two of the three suspects. One of them pulled his shirt over his head and John Lara slashed him," Motamenpour said.

The victim suffered a 6-inch gash, a half-inch deep, on his neck and an 18-inch slash from his shoulder blades to the small of his back.

The victim's girlfriend drove him across the highway to his mother's complex, where the man collapsed in the driveway. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital where he has since been treated and released, said Motamenpour.

John Lara, 24, is described as an olive-skinned man of unknown ethnic background, with a bad complexion and kinky black or dread-locked hair. He is 6-feet-2-inches tall, weighing 165 pounds, with several tattoos on his left forearm. His last known address was on Fall Street.

Anyone with information on Lara's whereabouts is asked to call the Motamenpour at 887-2020 ext. 41406.
