Trejo shines in Western National gymnastics

Natalie Trejo a 14-year-old honor student at Eagle Valley Middle School, recently had a strong showing in gymnastics at the Western National Championships in St. Louis, Mo.

Trejo, who has done gymnastics since she was three, competes at Level 9 and after competing at the Nevada state level, she qualified for the Western Regionals in Long Beach, Calif.

At regionals, she qualified for the Western Nationals. Out of 48 level 9 gymnasts, Trejo took third in the balance beam with a 9.35, 13th in the floor exercise with a 9.475 and 14th in the all-around with a 36.25. Her goal is to earn a college scholarship.

Trejo commutes to Reno five days a week and works out four hours a day year-round with Deltchev Gymnastics and is coached by Stoyan and Anni Deltchev.
