A Celebration Of Life Service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, May 24, for Joseph Francis Dempnock, 83, a former resident, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church, San Mateo, Calif.

Mr. Dempnock died of pulmonary fibrosis April 28, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles, Calif.

He was born July 26, 1924 in Mt. Carmel, Pa. to John and Mary Dempnock. He attended Mt. Carmel High School. He joined the United States Army and served from 1943-1946 as an airplane mechanic.

In 1961 he married Betty Ann Kapoun and lived in San Mateo until 1995. He and his brother Ignatius Dempnock owned and ran the Dempnock Truck Painting and Lettering Company in San Francisco until his retirement in 1989.

In 1995 Joseph and Betty moved to Minden where they lived until 2004 when Betty passed away from cancer. Joseph relocated to Saugus, Calif. where his daughter Anne Marie and her children Eliot Joseph and Bettina Liane reside.

He is also survived by his daughter Debbie Mary and her daughter Jamie Tyr as well as nephew Leonard of Santa Barbara, Calif.
