Bighorns to hold Military Appreciation Day

The Nevada Bighorns baseball team is commemorating the Armed Forces during its inaugural Military Appreciation Day on Saturday, May 31 on its opening day.

All proceeds from concession sales and donations from the doubleheader against the Chico Sabers will benefit the Solider and Family Support Fund and the Veterans Guest House, organizations that benefit the military, veterans and their families.

The Bighorns will play at Western Nevada College's John L. Harvey Field at 2 p.m. A ceremony honoring the military will be held at 1 p.m. Several military members and Secretary of State Ross Miller are scheduled to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. A plaque will be presented to the Bighorns for the team's commitment to honoring the United States Armed Forces.
