RENO (AP) " Two Reno convenience store clerks thwarted a robbery when they refused to hand over money and one of them struck the bandit with a baseball bat.

Joseph Kelly, 23, was booked into the Washoe County Jail on Sunday on suspicion of attempted robbery, burglary and destruction of property.

Police say Kelly walked into the Wells Mini Mart armed with an air pistol and demanded money.

The clerks refused and locked the front door as they called police.

Police say Kelly tried to kick out a window and threw cases of soda at the front doors when one clerk grabbed a baseball bat and hit him.

Neither of the clerks was injured.
