PORTLAND " Lyon County authorities say they will free the man suspected in the death of Stephanie Condon of Riddle unless Oregon authorities produce an indictment or warrant.

The 14-year-old Condon vanished while babysitting in 1998. Her remains were found last month by a man walking his dog in the rural Douglas County, Ore., area just south of Roseburg.

Authorities there say 39-year-old Dale Wayne Hill has been a suspect since early in the case but he has not been charged in the death.

Hill has nearly completed a 30-day sentence in Nevada on an unrelated conviction for failure to register as a convicted felon. He is due to be released with good-time credit Wednesday after serving about 15 days

A spokesman for the sheriff's office in Lyon County says Oregon authorities are working on the case.
