Some road controls in effect for area

Weather for the Carson City area today will be breezy and mostly cloudy with morning isolated showers and scattered showers in the afternoon. Highs 38-48 with northwest winds 15-25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

Tonight, mostly cloudy with isolated snow showers after midnight. Lows 20-30 with north winds 10-15 mph with gusts up to 35 mph in the evening.

Thursday, sunny with highs 54-64 with north winds up to 10 mph.

The Nevada Department of Transportation reports at 5:31 a.m. all roads open with no controls with the following exception:

Highway 395 through Washoe Valley: High wind advisory in effect. Campers and trailers not advised for 6 miles between East Lake Boulevard and Winters Ranch.

SR 342 " Snowtires or chains required for 3.8 miles between SR 341 at Silver City and SR 341 at Virginia City.

SR 341 " Snowtires or chains required for 9.3 miles between 5.1 miles north of Silver City and 4.7 miles south of Highway 395, bottom of Geiger Grade.

SR 431 " Snowtires or chains required for 18.7 miles between SR 28 and 5.8 miles south of Highway 395.

Utility work is being done on Corbett and East John streets off North Roop Street.

Road work continues in Carson City with areas of delays, as with East Fifth Street from Saliman Road to Fairview Drive.

Work on Highway 50 in east Carson City and Mound House continues with posted lower speed limits and narrow lanes just east of Flint Drive.
