RENO (AP) " Storey County officials say mail thefts in the Virginia Highlands area were part of a crime syndicate.

Jasen Dushane and Tayla Smith were indicted last week by a federal grand jury in Reno after their arrest in January. They face charges of possessing stolen mail, reproducing keys or stolen locks, and identity theft.

Two others, Ronald Robinson and Michael Wiseman, also were arrested on state charges of burglary and theft.

Storey County Sheriff Jim Miller says the arrests ended what he called a "criminal syndicate" that preyed upon residents since December.
