Carson JV baseball takes third at tourney

The Carson junior varsity baseball team beat Reno, 5-3, to take third place in the Manogue JV Easter Tournament.

The Senators (13-9) scored two runs in the eighth inning when Brock Pradere scored Dion Copoulos on a fielder's choice to make it 4-3. Stephan Anderson then hit in the insurance run.

Nick Domitrovich, who pitched a complete game, held on in the bottom of the inning. He finished with six strikeouts on seven hits.

Carson plays Thursday against Galena.

Carson JV softball splits

The Carson JV softball team (19-3) split with a 1-0 loss to Reed and an 8-0 win over Fallon.

Carson coach Sherri Kelley said the Raiders sent a varsity pitcher down for the game, who held the Senators to just two hits, both coming from Emily Collins.

In the win, Christina Gallegos and Christa McGahuey combined to throw a one-hitter with seven strikeouts.

Morgan Kleine picked up four hits in the win, while Caitlin Sinclair got two hits and run.

Collins also had a hit and an two RBIs. McGahuey added a hit and another RBI.
