Carson Nugget prepares to open new pastry shop Saturday

Saturday will mark the grand opening for the Carson Nugget's newest eatery, Le Nougat, a French-themed coffee and pastry shop.

Nugget General Manager Star Anderson said Le Nougat, pronounced "Noo-gah," will offer pastries from the Nugget bakery, coffee drinks as well as imported French nougat, a confection of fruits, nuts and a sugary paste.

"It will be a wonderful little gathering place for people to take a break from their gaming entertainment or come on over after they're at the ice rink and bring the family," Anderson said.

The $100,000 project took 60 days to construct and was originally slated to open Nov. 23, but was delayed until Saturday, Anderson said.

It is located in the casino's former oyster bar.

The Nugget will feature live entertainment and samples during the grand opening on Saturday.

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce will stage a ribbon cutting for Le Nougat on Tuesday.
