Carson City Fire Department Local 2251 is getting into the Christmas spirit this season by donating their time and money to shop for toys to give to families through the Carson City Salvation Army at 9 a.m. Thursday at the north Carson City Walmart off College Parkway.

CCFD Local 2251 has partnered with The Salvation Army Carson City Corps for a number of years to purchase toys for kids in The Salvation Army's Angel Tree Program. They are donating $4,000 to shop for toys this Christmas.

"The great thing about the CCFD Local 2251 is not only do they donate their money, but their hearts and hands as well, said Heather Paap, Lieutenant of The Salvation Army Carson City Corps. "They make it personal by shopping for each individual toy with a child in mind."

Retired firefighter Ken Engels otherwise known as "Uncle Happy," has organized this event for years in Carson City. He is known as "Uncle Happy" because of the joy he and the CCFD Local 2251 bring to the many children who get to open up gifts this Christmas.
