PREP ROUNDUP: VC girls win tourney title

Gigi Glogovac and Alexa Ballinger combined for 31 points to lead Virginia City to a 47-41 victory over McDermitt in the championship game of the Comstock Shootout.

Glogovac, despite first-half foul trouble, led the Lady Muckers with 17 points and Ballinger added 14.

The win gives the Lady Muckers a 7-2 record entering Friday's conference opener against Gerlach in Virginia City.

Virginia City built a 14-point lead in the first half, but then Glogovac picked up her third foul. The Muckers had a couple of other players in foul trouble, and McDermitt cut the lead to two at the half.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Virginia City 54, Coleville 39

The Muckers rebounded from a loss a day ago to get an easy win over Coleville.

Zach Shell led the Muckers with 19 points and Hunter Redman kicked in another eight points as the Muckers were able to rotate in the entire bench. Every player scored except for one.

Coleville was led by Jason Peters' 15 points.

Virginia City (5-4) opens up league at 7:30 p.m. Friday against Gerlach.

WADSWORTH ROBLES

WIN TITLES

Tristian Wadsworth (103) and Sean Robles (113) grabbed individual titles at the McQueen JV Tournament.

Dustin Garza grabbed a second-place finish at 119 pounds, while Alexander Azzam was third at 152. Alexander Cunningham (119), Cruz Kerver (125) and Caleb Schadeck (215) all placed fourth.
