H1N1 vaccine available to public Monday

In response to the announcement by Dr. Tracey Green of the vaccine's availability to all Nevadans effective Friday, Carson City Health and Human Services will be offering the H1N1 vaccine to the general public beginning Monday.

At present, the vaccine is offered to priority groups, those who are at higher risk for contracting H1N1, or for having more serious illness if infected. These include pregnant women, caregivers for children younger than six months, health care workers, anyone ages 6 months to 24 years, and people 25 years and older who have underlying medical conditions.

H1N1 vaccine will continue to be offered to those in the high priority groups, in addition to anyone else who wants to receive the vaccine. H1N1 vaccine is offered free of charge.

Carson City Health and Human Services is located at 900 E. Long St. Clinic hours are: Mondays from

1- 4:30 p.m. and Thursdays from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and

1-4:30 p.m.

Since October, CCHHS has vaccinated hundreds of people in its Long Street facility and thousands of area youth in clinics in schools and day care centers throughout Carson City, Douglas and Lyon counties. This effort also will continue as long as necessary.
