RENO (AP) - The student orchestra at a middle school in Reno is $1,000 richer because an anonymous donor enjoyed their music earlier this month at Reno-Tahoe International Airport.

Airport President Krys Bart says the orchestra from Swope Middle School was in the middle of a performance on Dec. 11 when a passenger presented the director with a $1,000 casino chip.

Swope is the airport's Partner in Education and performs each year in the terminal to add some holiday spirit during the busy travel season.

Bart says school music programs are some of the most seriously impacted by the current economic crisis. She says the donation "proves that tough economic times cannot stop the spirit of giving at the holidays."
