LAS VEGAS (AP) - Law enforcement authorities are searching for a man they say robbed a downtown Las Vegas bank by threatening a teller with a suspicious package implied to be an explosive.

Several police cruisers cordoned off traffic to several blocks near a federal building and venerable Fremont Street on Wednesday as they examined the package and searched for the suspected burglar. Authorities say the package was not a danger.

FBI spokeswoman Aida Reyes says a man in his 30s entered the Nevada State Bank branch just after 9 a.m. and left the package with a teller. Reyes says he fled the scene on foot with an unknown amount of cash from the teller.

Reyes says it is too early in the investigation to reveal specifics about the package or the threat.
