Travel restrictions on most area highways

The Nevada Department of Transportation reports at 5:42 a.m. all roads open with no controls with the following exceptions:

Highway 395 " Snowtires or chains required, high wind warning " campers and trailers prohibited for 6 miles between East Lake Boulevard and Winters Ranch through Washoe Valley. Snowtires or chains required for 2.5 miles between Winters Ranch and .5 miles south of Washoe Hill, south of Reno.

Highway 50 " Snowtires or chains required for 21.1 miles between .7 miles east of the California/Nevada state line and .4 miles west of US 395 in south Carson City.

Chains required except for 4-wheel drive vehicles for 51 miles between Placerville and 4.1 miles west of SR 89.

Interstate 80 " Chains required except for 4-wheel drive vehicles for 69.9 miles between Colfax and .7 miles east of the California/Nevada state line.

Snowtires or chains required for 6 miles between .7 miles east of the state line and .4 miles west of Mogul.

Snowtires or chains required for 52.1 mils between .4 miles west of Lovelock Main Street exit and .5 miles west of Cosgrave exit.

SR 341 " Snowtires or chains required for 20.3 miles between .1 miles north of Highway 50 and 1.7 miles south of Highway 395, bottom of Geiger Grade.

SR 342 " Snowtires or chains required for 3.8 miles between SR 341 at Silver City and SR 341 at Virginia City.

SR 431 " Snowtires or chains required for 22.1 miles between SR 28 and 2.4 miles south of Highway 395.

SR 208 " Snowtires or chains required for 10.6 miles between Highway 395 and Wellington.

Utility work is being done on Little Lane between Saliman Road south Stewart Street, mainly between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., with lane restrictions on Little Lane west of South Roop Street.

Utility work is also being done on North Roop Street from East John to Long streets, and on Corbett street, west of North Roop.

Road work continues in Carson City with areas of delays. There is continued work on Fairview Drive from South Edmonds to South Carson Street with lane closures and possible delays, as with East Fifth Street from Saliman Road to Fairview Drive.

Work on Highway 50 in east Carson City and Mound House has posted lower speed limits with narrow lanes just east of Flint Drive.

Today's weather for the Carson City area will be brisk with mostly cloudy skies and scattered snow showers in the morning with some snow showers in the afternoon. Highs 27-37 with west winds 15-25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

Tonight, partly cloudy with lows 10-20 with northwest winds 10-15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph decreasing to up to 10 mph after midnight.

Tuesday, mostly cloudy with highs 33-43 with light winds becoming southwest 10-15 mph in the afternoon.
