Freezing fog, light snow in Carson City area

The Nevada Department of Transportation reports at 5:55 a.m. all roads open with no controls with the following exceptions:

Interstate 80 " Chains required except for 4-wheel drive vehicles for 35.1 miles between Drum Exit and Central Truckee, Calif.

Highway 50 " Snowtires or chains required for 18.2 miles between .7 miles east of the California-Nevada state line and 3.3 miles west of Highway 395 in south Carson City.

Snowtires or chains required for 11 miles between 10.6 miles east of Kyburz to 4.1 miles west of junction SR 89, California.

Highway 395 " Snowtires or chains required for 9 miles between Winters Ranch and .4 miles south of SR 341 and SR 431, north of Washoe Valley.

SR 431 " Snowtires or chains required for 24.5 miles between SR 28 and Highway 395.

SR 342 " Snowtires or chains required for 3.8 miles between SR 341 at Silver City and SR 341 at Virginia City.

SR 341 " Snowtires or chains required for 14.3 miles between .1 miles north of Highway 50 and 7.7 miles south of Highway 395, bottom of Geiger Grade.

Weather for the Carson City area today will have patchy freezing fog in the morning and be partly cloudy with isolated snow showers and mostly cloudy in the afternoon. Highs 36-46 with light winds becoming east up to 10 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight, partly cloudy with lows 14-24 with southeast winds up to 10 mph.

Thursday, sunny with highs 41-51 with light winds becoming southeast up to 10 mph in the afternoon.

Utility work continues on Little Lane between Saliman Road south Stewart Street, mainly between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., with lane restrictions on Little Lane west of South Roop Street.

Utility work is also being done on North Roop Street from East John to Long streets, and on Corbett street, west of North Roop.

Road work continues in Carson City with areas of delays. There is continued work on Fairview Drive from South Edmonds to South Carson Street with lane closures and possible delays, as with East Fifth Street from Saliman Road to Fairview Drive.

Work on Highway 50 in east Carson City and Mound House has posted lower speed limits with narrow lanes just east of Flint Drive.
