RENO " A former Virginia City High School teacher fired for inappropriate contact with a student has lost his part-time job at Truckee Meadows Community College pending the outcome of sexual assault charges.

A TMCC spokeswoman said William Beeson was told on Friday to leave the Reno campus where he taught world religions.

Storey County prosecutors say Beeson faces trial in August on charges of sexual assault stemming from an April 2007 incident involving a 16-year-old boy at Virginia City High School. He also is accused of unlawful contact with a child involving a 15-year-old boy.

Beeson was fired from the high school where he taught English and theater in 2007.

Official say Beeson's bail prohibits him from being around children younger than 18 unless another adult is present.
