Colleen Vaughn, a resident of Gardnerville, passed away May 30, 2009, at her family home in Gardnerville.

Colleen was born February 12, 1938, in Glendale, Calif., to Ray and Dorothy Kennedy. She was educated in the Los Angeles Unified School District and graduated from Eagle Rock High School in 1956. Colleen was a retired account supervisor for the American Federation of Musicians Union.

Colleen and her husband, Tony, moved to Gardnerville in 2001. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 4, in Carson City, serving as president for two years. She was a member of St. Gall Catholic Church and enjoyed golf and needlepoint.

Colleen is survived by her husband, Tony, at the family home in Gardnerville; a daughter, Mrs. Lonnie (Patti) Driscoll of Visalia, Calif., and a son, Mike Howell and his wife, Shirley of Simi Valley, Calif.; and a sister, Pat Flores, of Santa Paula, Calif. Colleen is also survived by five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one niece and one nephew.

A Catholic memorial Mass will be said at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at St. Francis of Assisi in Incline Village. Burial is pending in Ventura, Calif. FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is caring for arrangements.
