Sertoma Club hosts 'Family Fun Night'

The Carson Sertoma Club sponsors a "Family Fun Night of Music," 6 p.m. Saturday, March 28 at the Carson Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive. The fundraiser is for Carson children with hearing and speech problems, cancer or diabetes. The program features the Carson High Jazz Band. Ken Haskins, "Rockin' Rev," will present "The History of Rock 'n' Roll." There will be door and raffle prizes, finger foods, drinks, desserts, dancing and fun. Tickets are $20, $15 for seniors and students and can be purchased at Q's Family Restaurant, 230 Fairview Dr. Make all checks payable to Carson Sertoma Club. Youth orchestra to perform mini-concert

Students from Carson City Symphony's Strings in the Schools youth orchestra will open World Dance Open Floor Night with a mini-concert, 7:30 p.m., Friday, March 20, Comma Coffee, 312 S. Carson St. The event is a fundraiser for the youth string program. For information, call 882-0372.

Nursing students seek blood donors

Second year nursing students at Western Nevada College host a blood drive, 10 a.m.-4 p.m, Saturday, March 28 at the Carson City Wal-Mart, 3200 Market St., Gardnerville East Fork Fire Station No. 7 and Smith's Grocery, 2200 Highway 50 East, Dayton. Each donor gets a raffle ticket for a laptop computer donated by Harley Davidson Financial Services. Testing for amateur radio licenses

Regularly scheduled testing sessions for amateur radio licenses are available in Stagecoach. The next session will be Saturday, April 11 at 8755 Cimarron Trail. Registration is 8-10 a.m. The testing will end around noon. Pre-registration is encouraged, but not mandatory. The exam fee is $15. Make checks to ARRL-VEC. To get to the testing site, take Apache north off U.S. 50 and drive approximately 1 mile to the intersection of Apache and Cimarron. AARP offers free tax prep for seniors

AARP will offer free tax preparation for seniors. Taxpayers wanting their taxes prepared and electronically filed for free do not have to be AARP members or any specific minimum age. Now through April 15 representatives will be at the Dayton Senior Center, 320 Old Dayton Valley Road, 12:30-3:30 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday and Lyon County Library, 20 Nevin Way, Yerington, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Friday.
