NEW YORK (AP) " Melky Cabrera capped a three-run rally in the ninth inning with a two-run single, and New York stopped a five-game home losing streak with a 5-4 victory over Minnesota on Friday night.

Justin Morneau hit two solo homers and Joe Mauer had one as the Twins built a 4-1 lead, but Joe Nathan couldn't hold a two-run lead in the ninth.

Alex Rodriguez, playing at home for the first time since admitting he used steroids and having hip surgery, was 0 for 1 with a strikeout and four walks.

Brett Gardner began the comeback in the seventh with the first inside-the-park homer at the $1.5 billion ballpark.

Gardner, who went 3 for 3, tripled leading off the ninth against Nathan (1-1) and scored on a single by Mark Teixeira to make it 4-3.

Rodriguez walked, and after two outs and an intentional walk, Cabrera hit the first pitch into short left-center to drive in two runs.

Jose Veras (2-1), New York's sixth pitcher, struck out his only batter for the win.

Blue Jays 8, White Sox 3

TORONTO (AP) " Aaron Hill hit a two-run homer and rookie Brett Cecil won his second straight start for Toronto.

Cecil (2-0) allowed three runs and six hits in six innings. Jesse Carlson got six outs and B.J. Ryan finished in his first appearance since being activated off the disabled list Thursday. Ryan had been out since April 23 with muscle tightness in his back and shoulder.

Hill went 3 for 4 with two RBIs for his 18th multihit game this season. He raised his average to .347.

John Danks (2-3), who has not won since April 22, allowed seven runs and nine hits in three innings. Paul Konerko and Jermaine Dye homered for the White Sox, who have lost four of five and nine of 12 overall and seven straight in Toronto.

Rangers 10, Angels 8

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) " Ian Kinsler homered twice and Andruw Jones drove in three runs as AL West-leading Texas held on for its fifth straight victory.

Kinsler and Jones hit two-run homers in a span of four pitches in the third off Joe Saunders (5-2).

Josh Hamilton homered for the third time in four games since coming off the disabled list, a two-run drive in the eighth.

Los Angeles scored five times in the ninth, including a three-run homer by Kendry Morales. But C.J. Wilson, the third pitcher in the inning, earned his first save, ending the game when Howie Kendrick hit a grounder with two runners on base.

Kevin Millwood (4-3) gave up two runs and nine hits over six innings as the Rangers (21-14) moved to seven games over .500 for the first time since June 2005, two seasons before Ron Washington became their manager.

Rays 8, Indians 7

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) " B.J. Upton's ninth-inning homer off Luis Vizcaino capped the biggest comeback in Tampa Bay history.

The defending AL champions fell behind 7-0 before rallying with plenty of help from the last-place Indians.

The Rays scored two runs on throwing errors and a third on a wild pitch before Ben Zobrist led off the bottom of the eighth with a solo homer that made it 7-all.

Upton led off the ninth with his first homer on a 3-2 pitch from Vizcaino (0-1), who signed with Cleveland on Thursday.

On Thursday, the Indians built a 9-0 lead and held off the Rays in the late innings for an 11-7 victory.

Grady Sizemore opened the game with the 19th leadoff home run of his career, breaking a tie with Kenny Lofton for the most in Indians history. Shin-Soo Choo homered for the second straight game, hitting a two-run shot that made it 7-0 in the fourth.

Dan Wheeler (1-0) pitched one inning to get the win.

Tigers 14, Athletics 1

DETROIT (AP) " Ryan Raburn and Brandon Inge both hit grand slams and drove in five runs for Detroit in the rain-interrupted game.

It was the third time in franchise history that the Tigers hit two grand slams in the same game, and the first time since Jim Northrup hit two on June 24, 1968.

The start of the game was delayed 61 minutes by rain, and light rain fell for two innings before a heavier shower caused a 73-minute delay at the end of the fourth.

Edwin Jackson (3-2) allowed one run and six hits in seven innings without walking a batter.

Brett Anderson (0-4) took the loss, allowing nine runs " three earned " and six hits in 3 1-3 innings.

The Tigers scored five times in the first, including Raburn's second career grand slam. Inge's grand slam gave the Tigers a 13-1 lead in the sixth.

Royals 8, Orioles 1

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) " Zack Greinke pitched seven innings to earn his seventh win and Miguel Olivo hit a three-run homer as Kansas City ended a six-game losing streak.

The Royals battered Adam Eaton (2-4) to stake Greinke to a 6-1 lead by the fourth inning and the right-hander overcame some shaky moments after a lengthy rain delay to match Toronto's Roy Halladay for the AL wins lead.

Mike Jacobs hit his eighth homer, Jose Guillen and Alberto Callaspo drove in two runs each and Mark Teahen had three of Kansas City's 13 hits.

Baltimore, still without outfielders Adam Jones (hamstring) and Luke Scott (shoulder), missed some early chances against Greinke (7-1) and had two hits after the third inning to lose for just the eighth time in its past 32 games in Kansas City.

Eaton allowed seven runs and 10 hits in five innings.

Mariners 5, Red Sox 4

SEATTLE (AP) " Ichiro Suzuki hit two homers, including a go-ahead two-run shot in the sixth inning, for Seattle, which rallied from four runs down.

Suzuki hit a solo shot for Seattle's first run in the fifth, then sent a fastball from Jon Lester (2-4) into the first row of seats in right field for his fourth two-homer game and first since July 30, 2005.

Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz was benched indefinitely a day after he went 0 for 7 and stranded 12 runners in an extra-inning loss at Los Angeles. Ortiz has gone 144 at-bats since his last home run on Sept. 22.

Chris Jakubauskas (2-4) allowed seven hits over six innings for his first career win as a starter.

Seattle won for just the second time in 11 games.

Boston lost its third straight on its final West Coast swing of the season.
