James Caan files for divorce in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES (AP) - James Caan is seeking a divorce from his wife of 14 years.
Court records in Los Angeles show "The Godfather" actor filed for divorce Friday. It's the second time that Caan has sought to divorce his wife, Linda. The first case, filed in 2005, was not pursued.
The couple were married in October 1995 and have two sons, ages 14 and 11. Caan is seeking joint custody of the boys.
Caan, who earned an Academy Award nomination for his role as Sonny Corleone in "The Godfather," has starred in numerous movies and television series.
He cited irreconcilable differences for the split.
Chris Brown receives 'favorable' report
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Chris Brown has received an "extremely favorable" report from probation officials overseeing his felony assault case, a judge said Thursday.
Brown appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom to offer a judge his first progress report since being sentenced for beating ex-girlfriend Rihanna earlier this year. He talked and laughed with his lawyer before the hearing, which took less than 10 minutes.
The R&B singer is serving five years of probation and must attend domestic violence counseling and perform six months of community labor in Virginia.
Brown's attorney, Mark Geragos, says Brown has already done 100 hours of community labor in Richmond, Va.
Los Angeles Patricia Schnegg said Brown has also paid all of his court-ordered fees and fines.
Brown is due back in court for another progress report on Feb. 18.
Ricky Martin raises money for kids
COLOGNE, Germany (AP) - Latin superstar Ricky Martin said Thursday he is teaming up with a German broadcaster to support his foundation and build a youth center for children in his native Puerto Rico.
Multi-Grammy winning artist Martin told The AP he is joining RTL on a telethon to raise money to build the center in Loiza, near the capital, San Juan.
"The idea is to build a center, a safe haven for children that are at risk of exploitation, which is the main mission of my foundation."
The RTL telethon is also raising money for other international and German children's charities.
The center in Loiza will be able to accommodate 150 children and will offer them art classes, meditation, martial arts and yoga, Martin said.
It has been designed by University of Puerto Rico architecture students, and construction is to get under way next year.
