SAN FRANCISCO - A homeless man is recovering from second- and third-degree burns inflicted when another homeless man doused him with lighter fluid and set him on fire as he slept in Golden Gate park.

Bryon Rowe, 55, is hospitalized and will need skin grafts to recover from the Nov. 13 attack. Police say his burns would have been worse if he hadn't been wearing two coats.

Eric Dilbeck, 47, is accused of trying to kill Rowe. He was already in San Francisco county jail on a probation violation when he was re-arrested Tuesday on suspicion of attempted murder, arson resulting in injury, and assault.

The case was reminiscent of the death of Leslie "Jill" May. In January 2007 the homeless woman was kidnapped, doused with gasoline and burned alive.
