HALF MOON BAY, Calif. (AP) - One of two men pulled from the waters off Half Moon Bay after their sailboat overturned has died.

The Coast Guard says the unidentified man was pronounced dead Friday at Seton Coastside Hospital in Moss Beach. He was spotted by a Coast Guard helicopter crew and pulled from the water around 5:30 p.m. , about an hour after the sailboat overturned in rough waters near Pillar Point.

Coast Guard spokesman Jeremy Pichette says the man, who was in his late 40s or early 50s, was wearing a life vest.

The other man, who has also not been identified, was recovered shortly after the boat capsized in 15 to 25-foot seas. Pichette says he was fine and did not need to be hospitalized.

A high surf advisory has the Coast Guard warning boaters to stay off Northern California waters over the weekend.
