Authorities in Nevada say a 6-year-old girl has died after falling off her horse at a Fallon junior rodeo.
The Churchill County Sheriff's department says the girl died Sunday morning at Banner Churchill Community Hospital. She was competing in the Lions Junior Rodeo at Fallon's Churchill County Fairgrounds.
Rodeo official Marcia de Braga says witnesses reported that the girl's father was having difficulty controlling the horse, which tossed the girl off when a golf cart passed nearby. She says the horse then fell on the girl.
De Braga says "this has never happened here before."
