Rifle, pistol range to be closed for cleanup

The Carson City Rifle and Pistol Range in Carson City will be closed to the public from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m today. The range will reopen for normal operations after 3 p.m.

The Carson City Parks & Recreation Department will be cleaning the facility and hauling trash and debris from the site.

The facility also will be closed to the public beginning Sept. 21-25 for a weeklong road improvement project all week.

The range is located at 4000 Flint Drive (U.S. 50 East to Rifle Range Road).

Doppelgangers donates to community

Doppelgangers Bar & Grill will donate all proceeds from food and drink sales during the Rockin' the Square Mumbo Gumbo weekend - $1,121 - to St. Teresa Catholic School, said Noel Wygant, vice president of operations.

Also, he said, the company's CEO Brad Adams will donate four 27-inch color television sets to the Boys & Girls Clubs.

Child car safety seat fair set for Oct. 6

The Ron Wood Family Resource Center will have car seat installations and information about the resources available in the community. Various community organizations and businesses will be present. Car seats and installation will be available at a low cost.

9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 6 at 212 E. Winnie Lane, Carson City

Nevada Health Centers Mammovan will be on hand also.

Call 877-581-6266 to make an appointment. Nevada Hopes also will be doing free HIV testing. Funded through a grant from the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety.
