Veterans of Carson City attended the ceremony honoring POW/MIA Recognition Day at the Nevada Veterans Memorial on the Capitol Plaza on Friday. This marks the 14th year veterans from the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Vietnam Veterans of America have joined together to remember America's prisoners of war and missing in action.

Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell, who is also a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, read a proclamation honoring 2009 POW/MIA Day. Gov. Jim Gibbons also issued a proclamation that was read by Tim Tetz, executive director of the Nevada Office of Veterans Services and the event's keynote guest speaker.

Carson City High School NJROTC Color Guard presented the colors.
