The tenant of an apartment raided by police early Saturday morning following a shoot-out between rival gangs was arrested Monday on drug charges.

Jose Antonio Adrian, 39, was booked into the Carson City Jail on suspicion of felony drug trafficking, possession of a dangerous weapon, possession of a controlled substance and probation violation.

Saturday morning about 1:30 a.m. rival members opened fire on a group convened in a parking lot at the corner of Menlo Drive and Lompa Lane.

Carson City investigators believe the victims returned fire as the shooters escaped through the complex and fled in two vehicles down Menlo Drive.

At least 30 shell casings were recovered from the scene. According to the police report, bullets pierced the walls of an unrelated apartment where a young couple and their 1-year-old daughter lived. There were no injuries.

According to police, witnesses reported seeing gang members run into Adrian's apartment and after obtaining a search warrant, the SWAT team entered. Though no one was found inside, at least 14 grams of methamphetamine was found, the police report states.

Further investigation led officers to the manager's apartment where six people were arrested, including the manager and his wife, and a small amount of marijuana was recovered.

When Adrian went into the Sheriff's Office for questioning Monday, he was arrested, said Deputy Sam Hatley.

Also, on Saturday evening, the two vehicles believed involved in the shooting were impounded. The registered owners have not been contacted, Hatley said.

He said more arrests are likely.
