New York Times best-selling author to speak tonight

Ellen Hopkins, New York Times Best selling author, is speaking in Marilee Swirczek's creative writing class at 7 p.m. today in Bristle-cone Building 343.

Hopkins was one of the first members of Lone Mountain Writers in the early 1990s. She is a poet and the author of 20 nonfiction books for children and seven New York Times bestselling young adult novels in verse, including Crank, Tricks, Fallout, and Identical. Her eighth young adult novel is set for release soon, and she is currently writing her first adult verse novel which will be available next year. Her books are available everywhere books are sold.

Though Hopkins is widely popular among young adult readers, her novels appeal to adults as well, including adults trying to understand the world of young adults. Hopkins will read from her works, talk about the experience of being published by major publishers, explain her writing process, and answer questions about living in Washoe Valley and traveling the country on books tours.

This event is free and open to the public.

For more information, call Marilee Swirczek at 445-4284.
