130 YEARS AGO

A quadruple fight. Yesterday afternoon about 3 o'clock two bulldogs got into a fight in about nine inches of mud in front of the Post Office. One belonged to H.M. Yerington, and the other to John Furlong. When one dog got the other down, only the top dog was visible. In the end, the dogs were separated with Furlong's dog swallowing so much mud he almost choked to death.

100 YEARS AGO

George Springmeyer of Goldfield arrived Saturday to spend the evening with his parents. By the way, George is thinking about contesting the election for Attorney-General, where he lost to Mr. Baker by 60 odd votes.

70 YEARS AGO

The annual community Christmas tree, sponsored by Capitol Post No. 4 the American Legion, held at the civic auditorium, was well attended. Santa Clause distributed gifts.

50 YEARS AGO

Winner of the $25 first prize for the Carson City Chamber of Commerce sponsored home decorating contest was the George Delich home at 1863 N. Nevada. Stan Peter's home at 400 Mary St. took the $15 second prize.

20 YEARS AGO

Diane Freeman has been chosen as December, 1990 girl of the month by the Soroptimist International.

10 YEARS AGO

The bell that once decorated the bridge of a World War II frigate bearing the name of the U.S.S. Carson City now resides at Carson City Hall.
