Acclaimed 'Red Stradivarius' violinist returns to area

TOCCATA - The Orchestra and Community Choral Artists of the Tahoe Area - presents the Bach & Bruch concert series featuring the Tahoe Symphony Orchestra, Chorus, and soloists.

Featured soloist will be "Red Stradivarius" violinist Elizabeth Pitcairn, performing the Bruch Violin Concerto # 1 in G minor and Dvorak's Romanza for violin.

The chorus will present J.S.Bach's masterpiece, Magnificat, with vocal soloists Katharine DeBoer, Anna Helwing, and Joy Strotz, soprano; Marianne Ashley and Susan Benefield, mezzo sopranos; Andy Sonnemaker and John Hutto, tenors; and Stuart Duke, baritone.

Several singers from the Carson Chamber Singers will join TOCCATA for this exciting series of concerts.

Performances are 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Cal Neva Resort in Crystal Bay; 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Resort at Squaw Creek; 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in South Lake Tahoe; and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Episcopal church in Reno.

General admission at the door is $25 adults, $15 seniors, $5 students, and children under 12 are free with a paying adult. Preferred seating is $35 ($40 at the resorts).
