The suspect in an early morning armed robbery today and who allegedly fled from deputies hour later, was arrested in South Lake Tahoe after a 20-minute foot chase.

Billy Johnson, 25, was arrested in the area of Midway Avenue and Highway 50 West, about three-quarters of a mile from Stateline, said South Lake Tahoe Police Lt. David Stevenson.

Stevenson said Johnson is a suspect in an assault in South Lake on Jan. 21 outside the Beach Hut Deli on Emerald Bay Road.

Johnson allegedly got into a fight there, breaking a man's nose and knocking out his teeth.

Carson City deputies are searching for man believed to have been involved in an armed robbery early this morning and who fled from deputies after he was stopped in a casino about 7:30 a.m.

Officers have since determined it is not Joseph Fontie Parrot, 25, who was named earlier as a suspect, said Deputy Bill Richards.

Following the armed robbery of a woman on North Carson Street at 2:52 a.m., deputies gave the suspect description to casino security officers throughout the city.

This morning just before 7:30 a.m. a security officer reported seeing someone matching that description at the Carson Station. When a deputy made contact with the man, he fled across Carson Street leading officers on a search of the old Copeland Lumber yard off Stewart Street.

Cameras at the Legislature captured the suspect shedding his outer clothing as he ran across the lawn.

A tracking dog from Douglas County and Carson City K9 were called out to assist in the search.
