Elizabeth (Betty, Liz) Isaacs Riseden, died peacefully on June 30, 2010, at her home, surrounded by loving family.

A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Monday, July 5 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 305 N. Minnesota, Carson City. The Reverend Jeff Paul will officiate. An inurnment service at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in Ely will be announced at a future date.

Ms. Riseden was born April 26, 1940, in Ely to William and Palma (Sundberg) Isaacs. She graduated from White Pine High School and received her bachelor's degree from the University of Oregon and her master's degree in Comparative Literature from University of New Mexico.

In 1975, Ms. Riseden made her home in Carson City with her family. As a teacher of English and literature, she enriched many lives throughout her career as an artist in residence and educator. As an author, she had a published novel, short stories and poetry works to her credit. In recent years, she was active in the Carson City Democratic Women's Club, The Red Hat Society, and Ash Canyon Poets.

Ms. Riseden is survived by her daughters, Andrea Riseden-Perry, and Mary Claire Boucher; sons-in-law, Tom Perry and Dana Boucher; and four granddaughters, Sierra and Sage Boucher, and Aspen and Genoa Perry.
