Local artists recognized at CVAA exhibit

The winners for the Carson Valley Art Association Scholarships for 2010 are Allison Henie and Kena Longabaugh. Samples of their work were displayed during the Carson Valley Days Fine Art Show and received much favorable comment.

Allison received the $1000 Elizabeth Johnson Scholarship. She has received awards for excellence in visual arts and three Silver Key Awards from the Scholastic Art and Witing Association. Three of her pieces were featured at the Nevada Museum of Art in Reno. Allison will be attending University of Nevada, Reno. Allison wants to be a school psychologist and use art as therapy.

Kena received the $1000 CVAA Scholarship. Her love is photography. Her black and white photos are outstanding. She will be attending Western Washington University. She is not sure of her major; leaving it wide open for the opportunities that college will present.

Also honored at the Carson Valley Days exhibit was Nancy Bargman, who won the People's Choice Award for her collage.
