Update: Drivers identified in accident on Dayton Hill

The Highway Patrol has identified the passengers in the head-on collision at 5:34 a.m. Wednesday two miles west of Dayon on U.S. 50.

A green Toyota sedan traveling eastbound crossed over the center lines and entered the fast lane of the westbound traffic, colliding into a white Dodge van. Both west and east bound traffic was stopped while Care Flight landed three helicopters to transport the occupants to Renown Regional Medical Center. All parties are currently receiving medical care to non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Toyota is 21-year-old Heidi Shellenbarger, 21, of Dayton.

The driver of the Dodge van is 72-year-old William Collins of Silver Springs. His wife, 63-year-old Shirley Collins, and his grandson, 23-year-old Timothy Collins, were also in the vehicle.

The Highway Patrol reports all lanes are open, but callers to the Nevada Appeal report traffic is still slow.

Traffic is slowly moving in both directions at the scene of a 5:30 a.m. head-on collision on Highway 50 East in Mound House at Dayton Hill.

Injuries are reported, and lanes in both directions were closed for a period to accommodate Care Flight landing on the highway.

The accident, involving a passenger van and a vehicle, is at the top of the hill and affects both directions.

Emergency crews are on the scene of an injury accident on Highway 50 East in Mound House at Dayton Hill.

Care Flight has left the scene and traffic in both directions is slowly moving.

The accident happened at 5:34 a.m.
