Woman jailed in Dayton Hill wreck

A Dayton woman has been arrested on drunken driving charges in a head-on collision July 21 in Mound House that injured four.

Heidi Shellenbarger, 21, was booked into the Lyon County Jail on suspicion of felony driving under the influence of alcohol causing substantial bodily harm, reckless driving, possession of cocaine, misdemeanor failure to maintain a single lane, driving on a suspended license and failure to appear.

According to Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Matt Kaplan, at about 5:30 a.m. July 21, Shellenbarger was eastbound on Highway 50 East near the top of Dayton Hill when she crossed over the center lines struck head on a westbound Dodge van driven by 72-year-old William Collins of Silver Springs. His wife, Shirley Collins, 63, and his grandson, Timothy Collins, 23, were also in the vehicle. 

The occupants of both vehicles were transported to Renown Regional Medical Center for injuries sustained in the accident. 

Upon Shellenbarger's release Friday from Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, she was arrested and booked into the Lyon County Jail.

Shellenbarger's bail is in excess of $60,000.
