Gilmore wins tourney at Silver Oak

Lee Gilmore carded a net 59 to win the Senior Men's Club individual stroke play tournament at Silver Oak Golf Club on June 8.

Roger Cartwright was second with a 62, while Fred Perdomo and Mel Younker tied for third at 63. Tony Barbaria was fifth with a 64.

Dick Lund (No. 2), Gilmore (No. 6), Luther Best (No. 7), Don Fox (No. 12) and Barbaria (No.14) won closest-to-the-hole honors. Fox's shot was feet 7 inches from the cup.

Progressive tourney

at Thunder Canyon

Tony Kane, Tim Kane, Randy Plymell and Leland Sullivan shot a 137 to win the Progressive Best Ball tourney on June 17.

Fran Menante, Mike Judge, Larry Goodnight and Jim Fitzpatrick were second at 139. Dave Waldon, Dave Westfall, Keith Gottschalk and Keith Libert were third at 140.

Mike Bennert won closest-o-the-hole honors at No. 17 (10 feet, 11 inches).

Hood-Archer combo

wins tournament

Susan Hood and Kathy Archer combined for a 154 to win the Rendevouz event at Thunder Canyon.

Shelly Brewster and Meredith Ellen Ewing won the opening day's alternate shot format on the front side with a 31. Vickie Carl and Lynn Greer won the back nine "shamble" with a 30.

Cheryl Lukens and Sharon Bratzler won the front nine better ball format with a 31 on the second day of the event, while Barbee Waldren and Claudia Goodnight won the reverse cha-cha on the back nine with a 56.

Martinelli, Ponte

Guy win at EV

Robin Ponte, Joyce Guy and Nancy Martinelli won low gross honors for the Eagle Valley Women's Club.

Ponte won the first flight with a 41, Guy topped the second flight with a 45 and Martinelli won the third flight with a 52.

Georgia Silva won closest-to-the-hole on No. 8 on the East course, landing 55-feet 7 inches away,

Spivack aces fifth

at Empire Ranch

Scott Spivack aced the fifth hole on the Blue course at Empire Ranch back on June 17. The hole measured 139 yards, and Spivack used an 8-iron. Craig Kubal witnessed the feat.

Role Models, an 8-ball team from Carson City, has qualified for the American Poolplayers Association Team Championship in Las Vegas in mid-August.

Terrance Bradley, Chris McMahon, Alex Gutierrez, Justin Young, Phil O'Sullivan and Robert Reed are members of the squad.

Coons leads way in President's Cup

Fred Coons shot a net 66 to win the first round of the Silver Oak President's Cup June 13.

Frank Maricich, Kevin Silsby and Chang Suh were tied for second at 67, while Pat Coons and Dennis Holt tied for fifth at 68.

4-way tie for

Mosconi top spot

Big Dogs, Cues Yer Daddy, Support Rackless Habits and Twisted Stix With Attitudes are tied for first place in the Mosconi Division of the Carson City chapter of the American Poolplayers Association.

Casey Richards of Support Rackless Habits leads the 6-7 tier with 15 points, two ahead of The Spoke's Kenneth Gabbard. Kirsten Kehe leads the 4-5 tier with 17 points, two ahead of Daniel McRae of Rack Fink. Tami Beasley of Cues Yer Daddy leads the 2-3 tier with 12 points, two better than Kenneth Collins of Big Dogs.

In the Comstock Division, 9-Spoke leads the way with 441 points, 27 ahead of Twisted Stix With Attitudes.

Daniel McRae of Cornbread & Whiskey leads the 6-9 tier with 21 points. In the 4-5 tier, Robert Wilson of Poke "n" Hope leads the way 22 points, three ahead of Christopher Skelley of Dean's Machine. The Rattlers' George Vick leads the 1-3 tier with 13 points, one ahead of Lawrence Goldstein of 9-Spoke and Derek Sheldon of Pocket Puppies.
