Friends and family have set up a benefit fund for Private First Class Timothy Hall of Hawthorne who was seriously injured in a mortar attack in Afghanistan two weeks ago.

Hall lost both of his legs and remains in critical condition. The young soldier is currently undergoing treatment at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

Hall used to be stationed at Naval Air Station Fallon. At the time of his injury, he was assigned to the 173rd Brigade Support Battalion out of Bamburg, Germany.

To help with the expenses of his family, there are accounts open at Bank of America and at Financial Horizon's Credit Union, in Hawthorne, under the name of "Timothy Hall Benefit."

Cards of well wishes can be sent to: The Family of PFC Timothy Hall, P.O. Box 834, Hawthorne, NV 89415.

Hall is the son of Eric and Tammy Hamrey of Hawthorne and Russell Hall Sr., of Reno and the grandson of Pat and Alice Miller of Fernley. He is also a 2007 graduate of Mineral County High School and was a star on the football field and basketball court.
