A Carson City business owner was jailed Wednesday on a felony warrant charging him with embezzling more than $200,000 from his previous employer.

Jason Robert Taylor, 38, owner of Deli Francesco, was booked into the Carson City Jail on a warrant for five counts of embezzlement and two counts of fraudulent use of a debit card.

According to the police report, Taylor worked as a controller at Briggs Electric where, between January 2005 and May 2009, he allegedly used the company credit card, petty cash, general checking account and salvaged copper funds to pay his mortgage, buy vehicles and fund home improvement projects.

When confronted by his employer, Taylor allegedly admitted the wrongdoing and was fired in May.

In July, the report states, Briggs Electric received a $30,000 check from Taylor, allegedly as repayment for the debt. The company turned the check over to police.

According to the report, an audit determined Taylor was responsible for embezzling $232,547 in four years.

He was booked into the Carson City Jail on $100,000 bail.
