The V&T Depot is the latest historical building to be featured for Carson City's series of Christmas ornaments.

It's the ninth in the series since the city started making them in 2002. They cost $15 each.

"I think it's an excellent ornament for this year and right now the V&T is trying to get established and going and it helps compliment them, too," said Stan Jones, co-owner of the Purple Avocado, 904 N. Curry St., which sells the ornament.

He said about 1,500 are made each year.

"People like to collect them and give them to their sons and daughters as a reminder of Carson City," said Sue Jones, who also co-owns the Purple Avocado.

Stan adds they have a mailing list of people they ship the ornaments to each year.

"I think this one is going to be very popular," he said.

The previous ornaments were:

• 2002 Laxalt Building

• 2003 Nevada State Mint

• 2004 St. Peter's Church

• 2005 Bliss Mansion

• 2006 Capitol

• 2007 St. Teresa of Avila Church

• 2008 Governor's Mansion

• 2009 St. Charles Hotel

The ornaments can be purchased at the Purple Avocado, 904 N. Curry St.; the Legislative Counsel Bureau Gift Shop, 401 S. Carson St.; the Nevada State Museum Gift Shop, 600 N. Carson St.; the Carson City Convention & Visitors Bureau Gift Shop, 1900 S. Carson St.
