Joyce Willman, 83, died peacefully at home and was welcomed into her eternal home on Tuesday, September 28, 2010. Joyce was born to Lawrence and Myrtle Walker in Minneapolis, Minnesota on May 4, 1927. She graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing, Duluth Minnesota in 1948. She was married to Bertram T. Willman on August 6, 1949. He preceded her in death on September 26, 1998. She worked as a nurse in a variety of settings for several years while her husband completed his Ph.D. and began his career. Together the family moved many times domestically and abroad for her husband's career until he retired and they moved to Carson City in 1986. She was also preceded in death by her younger brother, Donald Walker.

Joyce was active in several organizations in Carson City. She was a member of the Carson City Emblem Club #507, the Carson City Republican Women, the Carson City Natives and Newcomers, the Silver Sierra Adventurers, and Footprinters. She was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Community and St. Anne's Chapter of the Women's Guild. Joyce loved her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them and traveling. She was a loving mother and a good friend who was always there to help them.

Joyce is survived by her three children, Jane Mar and husband Dan of Las Colinas, Texas; John and Connie Willman of Norfolk, Massachusetts; and Bertram and Pam Willman of Colorado Springs; as well as six grandchildren, Sara and Bryan Mar, Rachel and Marie Willman, and Allison and Kelly Willman.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 4, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Carson City. Burial will be in Lone Mountain Cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Community. Arrangements entrusted to Walton's Chapel of the Valley, Carson City.
