Boxing, martial artscard in Reno on Saturday

A boxing and martial arts sports column, imagine that. Is that the same as mixing oil and water? The two sports don't mix or do they?

Well you can find out for yourself Saturday when Bruno's Boxing Club of Carson City and New Born Kings Martial Arts of Sparks come together to bring you "Clash of the Titans," a full day of martial arts and boxing.

Oil and water? No, more like fists and feet.

The events gets started at 10 a.m. with opening ceremonies. Martial arts action - including Sports and Brazilian Jujitsu (Gi and no Gi divisions), grappling and submission wrestling, continuous and point sparring, with both men and women competing gets going at 10:30 a.m. At 4 p.m., boxing takes the stage as boxers from all across Nevada, Sacramento and Idaho get it on in a scheduled 15 bouts. The event will feature two female bouts as Carson High's Elena Thurman will make her amateur debut.

The event will take place at the Reno Sparks Convention Center, "F" Hall, 4590 S. Virginia St. in Reno.
