Comstock Mining Inc. is asking members of the community to participate in a focus group to discuss the company's mining plans and its participation in the community. The initial purpose is to allow the company to hear about the community's concerns regarding the impact and benefits of mining activity. Simultaneously, the community will have the opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the company's plans: including scope, mine plans, processing details, safety and environmental protocols. Once a base of understanding is established, the more important goal is to identify and structure the most effective ways Comstock Mining can interact with the community to provide a significant and broad-reaching benefit to residents.

Comstock Mining hopes to gain participation from a broad range of interested parties, such as Storey and Lyon county representatives, the tourism industry, a Silver City resident, a resident from either Virginia City or Gold Hill and a member at large.

Doug McQuide, Comstock Mining's director of marketing & public relations said, "Our vision and intention is to become a significant and beneficial part of the community, not only as a mining company, but as a positive member of the tourism community and an important contributor to the overall quality of life on the Comstock."

The goals of the focus group are: to educate and to understand; to discover the community's priorities, needs and wishes; to develop ways Comstock Mining can enhance the local tourism economy; and finally, to establish a mechanism to best direct the Company's discretionary funds into community charities, historic preservation, education and schools, community events, community improvements, the arts.
