Soroptimist International of Carson City recently held a scholarship awards ceremony at their luncheon meeting.
The Western Nevada College Trade and Industry Awards are given each year to students working toward a trade, business or technical degree. This year, two awards were presented to Laurie Purcell and Jessica Shehorn.
Melissa Dornsife is the recipient of the Barbara Alexander Scholarship. Through a private donation for a Western Nevada College student, this scholarship is given to a student who provides the primary financial support for her household.
The Marge Patterson Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Melissa Washabaugh. This scholarship is presented to a Western Nevada College nursing student .
Laureen Mesa was awarded the Margaret Hersey Memorial Scholarship, for a Western Nevada College nursing student.
Soroptimist International of Carson City is part of a world wide organization for women in management and professions working through service projects to advance human rights and the status of women.
