Diabetes swim event organizers looking for memories

Organizers of A Swim for Diabetes that is planned for June 18 at the Carson City Aquatic Facility is looking to make a memory board to display at the event.

Fashion show to help historical society

The Douglas County Historical Society's "Second Hand Rose" Fashion Show will be at 1 p.m. April 16 at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center, 1477 Highway 395 N., Gardner-

ville. Tickets are available now for $15, including salad and dessert bar.

Second Hand Rose and her models invite you to join them in the main gallery of the museum at beautiful tables, with a salad and dessert luncheon, fashion show and shopping for gently used clothing and accessories.

Kids & Horses hires new equine manager

The Kids & Horses Therapeutic Riding Center has hired Cynthia Valentine as equine manager and special programs manger. Valentine's job duties will be to maintain a sufficient number of well-trained and suitable horses for the therapeutic riding program's use.

She also will train new volunteers with horse experience to be horse handlers.

Valentine also will coordinate and teach Kids & Horses new educational programming that will be open to children of all abilities in the community to learn the basics about horses and how to ride.
