Obituary: Frederick Dangberg

Frederick Dangberg, a beloved brother, father, grandfather and friend, passed away on Monday April 18, 2011, at his residence of natural causes. A third generation Nevadan, he was born, raised and remained a lifelong resident of the Carson Valley. He was born to Fred Dangberg and Juanita Yparraguirre on June 27, 1945.

He married Karen Whittenberg in 1965. Shortly thereafter he joined the U.S. Army, where he learned his heavy equipment trade. He served in Vietnam for one year, where he received a bronze star for his acts of bravery. Upon returning from the service, the couple was blessed with three daughters, Kathy Unruh, Joy Woodward, and Kristy Spotts.

Fred retired from Bing Construction after more than 30 years. In his retirement years, he enjoyed shooting and reloading with his friends and grandsons, Trent, Riley and Jordan. He also enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters Courtney, Alyssa, Sydney, Jaden, and Lexy. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother Gus. He is survived by his sister, Lois Colburn, his three daughters, and eight grandchildren.

He will be greatly missed but forever in their hearts. A private graveside service will be held in his loving memory. The family request that you donate to your favorite charity in his memory.
