The Ray May fire continues to threaten 17 homes and 22 outbuildings as firefighters cut a line the rest of the way around the blaze in the Pine Nut Mountains near Gardnerville.

Firefighters continue to mop up sections of the fire, and rehabilitate hand and bulldozer line where the fire has been extinguished.

While the size of the fire has held steady at 3,895 acres, firefighters didn't make much progress on surrounding the fire, with containment remaining at 85 percent since Friday evening.

Full containment isn't expected until today.

So far 10 buildings have been lost, including eight outbuildings, a guest house and an abandoned BLM structure. Most of those were lost on Wednesday evening in the northern section of the fire.

There are more than 600 firefighters battling the blaze, with 16 hand crews working the line along with two bull dozers and eight engines. Three air tankers and 10 helicopters are dropping retardant on the blaze.
