MORRO BAY, Calif. - Carson High's girls basketball team fell to 0-3 after dropping a 59-34 decision to Arroyo Grande in the first round of the Morro Bay Invitational Wednesday night.

Carson returns to action today at 3:30 p.m. against Atascadero.

Carson coach Todd Ackerman refused to use as an excuse a Tuesday night game and then a six-hour drive to Morro Bay in the morning. Ackerman said the team did the same thing last year.

"We just had way too many turnovers; unforced turnovers," Ackerman said. "That killed us. We are still learning how to play together."

Arroyo Grande bolted to a 38-20 halftime lead, and the Senators didn't help themselves by turning the ball over three times on their first three possessions of the second half.

Eliza Matley led Carson with 11 points, while Emily Collins added eight. Tiana McAllister-Daggs and Maddi Saarem added five points apiece.
