The School Whipping. In a trail of Miss Kelly, a teacher in the Central Public School and her flogging of Colonel A.C. Ellis' son came before the Board today. An investigating committee later exonerated Miss Kelly stating she acted with discretion and leniency and had no problem having their own children in Miss Kelly's class.

100 YEARS AGO

A search party is scouring the hills near Mina for Jimmy Kane, a miner who started for a prospect near Table Mountain several days ago. The team he took with him returned to Mina without a driver. It is supposed he became lost in the storm of Wednesday.

70 YEARS AGO

Two pilot training organizations are expected to be in full action here this week training fliers on and from the Carson Airport. The Carson Indian School at Stewart may be evacuated of the several hundred boys and girls to be used for United States soldiers.

50 YEARS AGO

A decision on Interstate Highway 80 routing through Winnemucca will not be announced until next year.

20 YEARS AGO

Sheriff Paul McGrath announced Wednesday that the Sheriff's office will be actively pursuing impaired drivers this holiday season.

10 YEARS AGO

Carson City and state fair officials have taken their request for a fairgrounds in Stewart to the governor's office. Fair officials say if they stay at the Reno Livestock Convention Center, the fair will die.
